They work along with you, and guide you while performing exercises. They help you stay motivated and make the most of your time. However, all this is only possible if the trainer is a professional who knows what he is doing. If not, all your money and efforts will go to waste.

Check his credibility:
Usually, there are certifications for fitness trainers. If you live in a town or region where the concept of certification barely exists, then you can skip this part. If not credentials, you should at least consider the trainer's experience. However, experience cannot really tell you how good a trainer is, so that should be used as your second option.

Check out your trainer's build and what his attitude is like. Does he sound energetic? Is he always on his toes, or is he resting in one corner while his charges are performing these exercises? It is highly important to consider these points. Your personal trainer is there to guide you. There will be times when you'll need assistance in exercises. Yet if the trainer is unable to provide you with any help, he is not worth it. By looking at his personal profile, you can immediately spot out whether he is a good trainer or not.

Discuss your goals with him:
Before you go to a trainer, you should know what your goals are. Secondly, you should read various fitness magazines that talk about similar stuff.
